Hi Kelli,
I’m Trixi Symonds, the founder of Sew a Softie, a global movement that inspires parents and teachers to teach kids to sew. For over thirty years, I’ve been showing children that hand sewing is simple, fun, and confidence-building. I’ve also written several books, including The Zenki Way and the Sew a Softie Workbook series, to help families and classrooms discover just how easy it is to sew.
Every year, through events like Sew a Softie in July and the Global Kids Sewing Party, kids in more than 30 countries join in to sew and share kindness. In 2026, I’ll be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Sew a Softie and my playful Zenki softies, which have become beloved companions for children and teachers all over the world.
I live in Sydney, Australia, where I design softies, create tutorials, and continue to inspire a global community of parents, teachers, and kids to sew together.
