Mom/Author/Entrepreneur
My name is Heather, and I’m a mom of two teens, a business owner, and (very unexpectedly!) a first time author who wrote her debut cozy holiday romance entirely on her iPhone Notes app… usually while waiting for my daughter after cross country practice or sitting in the parent pickup line.
I’m reaching out because I think I have a story your listeners would find encouraging, relatable, and honestly… a little magical.
In 2025, I made a promise to stop pinning dreams on Pinterest and start actually doing them. I learned small things first… how to crochet, garden, and make hot sauce. As I learned and tried new things, my confidence grew and pushed me to finally start my lifelong dream of writing a novel. It felt overwhelming at first, until my daughter suggested I try Wattpad. So I began publishing one chapter at a time, right from my phone.
The timing made it both chaotic and beautiful.
I was running my business, raising two teenagers, and training for my first ultramarathon, all while writing a book in the tiny pockets of time that mothers become experts at finding. Once I realized I could actually do this writing thing, I set a goal to finish my cozy holiday romance before Thanksgiving. That meant committing to a chapter a day and I only missed two of my self imposed deadlines because I was, quite literally, racing through Pisgah Forest in North Carolina.
Then something completely unexpected happened.
The very week I finished the final chapter of my novel (A Cabin for Christmas), a cabin popped up on Zillow in our dream location in Pisgah Forest; the exact area where my husband and I had been dreaming and searching for the last five plus years. Despite multiple offers well above what we could offer, the sellers chose us.
It felt like a message: when mothers make space for themselves and pursue their dreams wholeheartedly, other dreams can open up in ways we never anticipated.
I would love to share this story on your podcast and offer some practical takeaways, such as:
• how to nurture creativity in the margins of motherhood
• how small hobbies can rebuild confidence
• ways to reclaim your identity while raising teens
• why working on a dream (even imperfectly) can unlock others
If you feel like this could encourage your audience, I’d be so grateful for the chance to talk with you.
Thank you so much for your time,
Heather Kaminski
